Samsung published an official statement about the Galaxy Note 7 battery issues on their UK website. Most of what is said in the post is general information type stuff, but they did talk about what went wrong with the batteries during the manufacturing process. Samsung says the battery cell is overheating "when the anode-to-cathode came into contact," and says this is a "rare manufacturing process error."
Android 7.0 finally arrived for the public yesterday, but Google slacked off a bit and did not give us direct download links for OTAs and factory images. While OTA's are good when you do not want to unlock your bootloader, system images come in handy when you mess something up and just want to get back to stock Android.

Months after the phone was released, Xiaomi has finally released the kernel source code for its flagship, the Mi 5. this kernel release should aid in bringing proper kernel support with additional features to the third part development scene.
Miles is back with another awesome video for XDA TV. This time we are looking at how you can get Android Nougat on your 2013 Nexus 7. Google dropped support for the device so it has been left up to the developer community to take it from here. An AOSP ROM has been put together to get Android 7 on the device. So if you're looking for something like that, then this is a solution for you.
The only issue that was found during review was some stuttering with YouTube playback. Everything else ran smoothly including intensive features like split screen apps.

The folks over at Paranoid Android, the custom ROM that brought to us features like Per-App Layouts, Floating Windows and Pie Controls way back in the day, have still kept themselves busy all this time. Today, they bring us news that they have added another device to their supported device lineup, along with a ROM update (Android 6.0).
The Nextbit Robin is the newest addition to the list of current devices officially supported by the Paranoid Android team. Members of the team spent a lot of time to optimize the ROM for the Robin, so rest assured that this ROM and this new update work as intended.
The changelog for this update includes a bunch of general fixes, along with a bunch of fixes aimed towards the OnePlus 3 in particular:

The team also took this opportunity to address the state of their ROM updates. Even though they have had only three updates since their relaunch, the Paranoid Android team is much more focused towards pushing out stable releases with significant or critical changes instead of pushing out ROMs just for the sake of pushing it out. As a result, the updates that do get released are worthy of becoming your daily-driver.
This trend is also to be carried on for Nougat. The first builds for Nougat are running for a few devices, with feature-porting expected to begin soon. Features which have already become a part of the system will get dropped, which makes sense. The PA team does not mention what else they have planned for Nougat, so we will have to wait and see what they come up with.

The Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 now has its product page available on Samsung China's website. This smart flip phone features a 3.8″ WVGA display with a Snapdragon 425 SoC, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with microSD expandability. The phone features a 1,950 mAh battery, an 8MP rear camera with no front camera and runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with TouchWiz on top.
