Samsung’s “Green Battery Icon” Given Compatibility Exception from Google

Android's Compatibility Definition Documents mention that an Android device must have white icons in the status bar in order to become "Android Compatible". Samsung's latest "Green Battery Icon" indicator for marking safe Galaxy Note 7 devices was deemed to be in violation of these CDDs. Google's SVP of Android has now mentioned that Samsung has been granted exception for this extraordinary circumstance, and that the battery icon sports a white border to ensure compatibility.

BlackBerry DTEK60 Specs Leak: 5.5″ QHD Display, Snapdragon 820 in Tow

BlackBerry's DTEK60 smartphone has had its specifications leaked, giving us a glimpse of what to expect next from BlackBerry. The DTEK60 will likely be a fairly high end smartphone, with a 5.5″ QHD display, Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, 21MP rear camera + 8MP front camera, a 3000 mAh non-removable battery with Quick Charge 3.0 and a USB Type C port. It is unknown if this will also be a rebranded device like the DTEK50.

Latest Google App Beta Adds “In Apps” Shortcut and Renames “Now on Tap’ to “Screen Search”

The latest Beta of the Google App now adds a shortcut for accessing the "In Apps" search shortcut. Along with this, the update renames "Google Now on Tap" to "Screen Search" and renames Google Now cards to "Feed". The renaming should help the average user figure out and understand the use cases of these features.

Google Play Books Now Has a Discover Feature

Google wants to help you find more content to read, so the latest update to Google Play Books is gaining a new Discover feature. The new section in the app can show you stories from the internet that are about books, personalized suggestions based on your interests, and the Google Play Editorial that will show you author interviews, essays by favorite writers and more.

LG V20 Rumored to be Available in the US on October 21st

The LG V20 has made an impressive splash in the Android community since it was unveiled. Some of us in the United States have wondered when it would be available, and now a new rumor suggests you can buy your own on October 21st. This is also the same day that the Galaxy Note 7 is supposed to be made available in the US again.

Samsung to Resume Sales of the Note 7 in the US from October 21st

It's been reported that Samsung will start selling the Galaxy Note 7 in their home country of South Korea by September 28th. However, a new report suggests this won't be happening in the United States until next month. VentureBeat says they obtained a leaked document from Samsung that has the Note 7 being available for purchase in the US again from October 21st.

OnePlus 3 CM14 ROM

If you own a OnePlus 3 then you might be excited to hear that an unofficial CyanogenMod ROM is available for download. This ROM is in the testing stage so expect a few bugs. Miles put it on his OnePlus 3 and made this video review.

As of right now, the only official bug on this ROM is the camera, however this ROM is not very stable. It will be a while before this ROM is ready to be your daily driver.

Going into the settings you'll find some of the standard OnePlus features. You have the buttons menu where you can toggle the on-screen nav bar and other button options.

They have also included O-Click for this ROM. Unfortunately we did not have an O-Click to test this with.

You wont be sacrificing your gesture controls for this ROM as they are baked right in.

As with many custom ROMs, you'll have some extra ambient display tweaks.

Going over the stability, it's not usable but it is unstable. Follow the development of this ROM in the XDA forums.
