NVIDIA GeForce Now database allegedly reveals a bunch of unannounced games

A leaked list from NVIDIA GeForce Now may have potentially exposed some unannounced games, including Bayonetta 3, Gears 6, and Kingdom Hearts IV. NVIDIA has denied the games in the list are real, but nevertheless, it has fueled speculation. Some of the games on the list are ones that have not yet received a PC port despite players asking for them for years.

NVIDIA GeForce Now is a cloud gaming platform that lets you stream games to your devices. It’s a great investment for people who don’t necessarily have the powerful PCs required to run next-gen games, and the platform has been acquiring the rights to stream lots of games on the same day they launch. The list was found via datamining the GeForce Now database, with developer Ighor July publishing the details on how he did it in a Medium post. Pavel Djundik, the creator of SteamDB, compiled a list of the games in the database that have no SteamID currently, and that’s how we know about many games that are supposedly going to be launched on PC and playable via the GFN platform.

Following the leak of the list, NVIDIA gave a statement to Wccftech that confirmed the list was indeed real, but the games on it weren’t: “NVIDIA is aware of an unauthorized published game list, with both released and/or speculative titles, used only for internal tracking and testing. Inclusion on the list is neither confirmation nor an announcement of any game. NVIDIA took immediate action to remove access to the list. No confidential game builds or personal information were exposed.”

To be fair, some of the games on the list do beggar belief, such as Judgment. That game will supposedly never come to PC because the agency of the lead actor has forbidden it. Another game on the list is Halo 5: Guardians and developer 343 Industries has since come out to say that they have no plans to bring that game to PC at this time. Still, it does give some hope for future games, including God of War on PC. That’s a PC port that fans have been waiting on for quite some time.

Chrome for Android will soon add a permanent desktop mode toggle

To view desktop versions of websites on Chrome for Android, you currently have to tap on the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner and enable the “Desktop site” toggle in the menu. While this is a decent enough solution for most people, it can get a bit annoying for those who only want to view the desktop version. Thankfully, Google is now working on adding a new toggle that will let users view desktop versions of websites by default.

A recently merged commit on the Chromium Gerrit reveals that Google will soon add a permanent desktop mode toggle to Chrome for Android. The commit, titled [DesktopSite] Add flag for Request Desktop Site Global Setting, adds a new flag called “Global setting to request desktop site on Android” with the description “an option in ‘Site settings’ to persistently request the desktop version of websites.”

Tipster Leopeva64, who frequently digs into new Chrome and Edge releases to find new features, recently spotted this code change. However, this isn’t the first time we’re hearing about this new feature. Leopeva64 spotted another patch with the same feature a few weeks ago, but it had “Demo” in the title. This led us to believe that Google didn’t intend to merge it. The new patch adds the same feature, but it isn’t marked as “Demo,” so we expect to see it in Canary builds of Chrome for Android soon. It’s worth noting that the new flag mentioned above is already available in Chrome Canary, but the new option in the ‘Site settings’ section hasn’t been added so far.

Note that Chrome already defaults to desktop versions of websites on Android tablets with large displays (10-inches and above). This change rolled out with Chrome 91 earlier this year.

Bluetti Releases New Power Stations with Hot Swapping Modules

Portable power stations are growing in popularity, as technology improves and power outages become more frequent. When you’re investing in a power station, modularity is one of the things you should look for. You can start small, and expand if you decide you need more power later. Bluetti’s newest products are designed as an affordable entry into a full-solution power backup plan.

AC200 MAX and B230

After the success of the AC200P, Buetti listened closely to dedicated users, about what they should include next. For people who are looking for more power, the AC300 is a massive 3000w pure sine wave inverter. This unit is able to support a large amount of power, with its modular design. Pair an AC300 with at least one B300 battery to get 3072Wh of power. You can attach up to four of these batteries to achieve a total of 12,228Wh of capacity.

Bluetti understands that modularity is important in all of their power stations, and even lets you go further by using the Fusion Box Pro. This unit will allow you to pair two AC300s together, boosting the entire system up to 240V, 6000W. At this point, you can use eight of the B300 battery modules, for a total of 24,576Wh of capacity. This is enough to power everything in your home for up to a week.

For charging options, the AC300 is able to support 2400W solar input, while the fully stacked version allows for 10,400W. This is ideal for any long-term power outages that could last more than a few days.

South Korea fines Google for preventing OEMs from forking Android

The Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) has issued a 207 billion won ($176.64 million) fine against Google for preventing OEMs from forking Android. The anti-trust regulator has said that Google’s contract terms with OEMs amount to an abuse of its dominant position, which has restricted competition in the mobile OS market.

According to Reuters, Google intends to appeal the ruling, claiming that it “ignores the benefits offered by Android’s compatibility with other programs and undermines advantages enjoyed by consumers.” KFTC’s Chairperson Joh Sung-wook maintains that the ruling is “meaningful in a way that it provides an opportunity to restore future competitive pressure in the mobile OS and app market markets.”

Talking about the ruling, the KFTC said that Google hampered competition by pressuring OEMs to abide by an “anti-fragmentation agreement (AFA).” As part of the AFA, Google required manufacturers not to offer Android Forks on their devices, which helped solidify its market dominance in the mobile OS market.

The report mentions an instance of Google forcing Samsung to switch to a different OS on its smartwatch back in 2013 after Google deemed the original OS an AFA violation. Interestingly, Samsung recently switched from Tizen to Wear OS on its smartwatches.

Along with the fine, the ruling also bans Google from forcing OEMs to sign AFA contracts, thereby allowing them to offer modified versions of Android on their devices. The KFTC ruling came on the same day that the recent amendment to South Korea’s Telecommunications Business Act came into effect. The amendment, which forces Google and Apple to accept alternative payment options, was passed late last month. It also blocks the companies from delaying the approval of apps or unfairly banning them from their marketplace. If Google and Apple fail to comply with this new law, they can be fined up to 3% of their total revenue in South Korea.

LineageOS 18.1 adds the ASUS ZenFone 8, POCO X3 NFC, and more to the roster

In March, the team behind LineageOS released LineageOS 18.1, the latest version based on Android 11. Since then, the team has rolled out LineageOS 18.1 to many more devices — from notables like the OnePlus 9 Pro, Redmi Note 10 Pro, and Pixel 4 series to the lesser-known devices like Walmart’s Onn and Dynalink Android TV boxes. The LineageOS team recently added support for POCO X3 Pro, POCO F3/Mi 11X, Galaxy M20, and more. Now five more devices have just been added to the official LineaeOS 18.1 build roaster.

The first official builds of LineageOS 18.1 are out for the ASUS ZenFone 8, Lenovo Z5 Pro GT, POCO X3 NFC, SHIFT SHIFT6mq, and Sony Xperia Z2.

If you own any of the above devices and would like to try out LineageOS 18.1, you can download the latest nightly build from the WiKi links given below:

Device Device codename and WiKi Link Maintainers
ASUS ZenFone 8 sake
  • ZVNexus
  • cryptomilk
Lenovo Z5 GT heart
  • themard
  • optionaltoast
POCO X3 NFC surya
SHIFT SHIFT6mq axolotl
  • amartinz
  • joey
Sony Xperia Z2 sirius ArianK16a

At the time of publishing the article, the wiki page for the POCO X3 NFC is currently not live, but the patch adding the device to the build server has been merged, so the page should be up soon.

It goes without saying that you must have an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery like TWRP installed on your device in order to install this ROM. As with any custom ROM, you’ll also need to install a Google apps (GApps) package since it’s not bundled with the ROM. If you’re not sure, check out our guide on how to pick and install the right GApps package for your device.

Step-by-step instructions for installing the ROM are provided on the respective Wiki page of the phones. It’s always a good idea to take a full backup of important data beforehand.

Whether you’re not happy with the stock software of your phone or stuck on the old version of Android because your OEM has ceased software support, LineageOS provides an easy way to lease a new life to your device and experience a clutter-free software experience.

Fairphone 4 5G leaks reveal brand-new design and multiple rear cameras

Fairphone is one of the few companies around that sells smartphones with a focus on repairability and reducing environmental impacts. The Fairphone 3+ was released almost exactly one year ago with a Snapdragon 632 chipset, and earlier this month, the unannounced Fairphone 4 was certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance. The Fairphone 4 still hasn’t been officially revealed yet, but now we know additional details and the physical design, thanks to a few new leaks.

Nils Ahrensmeier, a notable leaker, shared some technical details about the upcoming Fairphone 4 5G. The phone will have a 6.3-inch screen, making it slightly larger than the regular Galaxy S21. Two hardware configurations will be available, with either 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage or 6GB of RAM and 256GB storage. It also seems likely the phone will cost around 600, which is 140 more than the current price of the Fairphone 3+ in Europe.

Meanwhile, a retail listing for the Fairphone 4 (spotted by @L4yzRw on Twitter) confirmed the same specifications, while also revealing a 48MP rear camera and photos of the phone. The design is definitely changed from the Fairphone 3 series, with smaller bezels, a notch for the camera, and what seems to be a triple rear camera array.

The rightmost camera doesn’t appear to have a lens in it, so it’s possible it could be a depth-of-field sensor or something else. There’s also not a fingerprint sensor on the back anymore, indicating it has either been moved to the side of the phone, or the Fairphone 4 5G will have an under-screen sensor.

Fairphone’s website has been updated with a teaser for the phone, which reads, “Want to be among the first to know what’s coming? Sign up for our newsletter and stand a chance to win a mystery prize worth 700.”
